FTP password security enhancements

Beginning May, 2008, we are deploying a new, more robust FTP server application across its network. Along with giving you the ability to transfer files over a secure, encrypted SSL connection, the new system also allows us to enhance the overall security of your FTP access information.

Highlights of these security enhancements include:

  • The FTP “show” password option from within the WebControlCenter has been replaced with a “change” password option.

  • You can locate the “change” password option by logging into your account at http://www.webcontrolcenter.com/customer.aspx. Go to Menu --> Site --> FTP Admin.

  • FTP password strength is improved: Minimum of 8 characters in length, and must include letters, numbers, and a special character (i.e. #, $, %, etc.)

  • FTP login information is stored separately from each web server in an encrypted database.
