Checking to see if your WebControlCenter Hosting Plan uses a MySQL or MSSQL database
A database, is quite simply an organized collection of data. Within this data, contains tables organized by columns and rows similar to an excel spreadsheet. Most websites utilize a database to display content on their website. A web page grabs information from the database (the web site is connected to the database by programming) and inserts that information into the web page each time it is loaded. If the information stored in the database changes, the web page connected to the database will also change accordingly.
The two shared database types we support are MYSQL and MSSQL. MYSQL 4 or 5 databases are typically used with PHP scripting whilst MSSQL 2000, 2005, & 2008 is used with ASP.NET. Access databases are also supported on some plans, but are stored on the web server. This article will outline the steps to identify and locate your MYSQL/MSSQL database information.
